This series of objects is inspired by a fictional novella “ Flatland : A Romance of Many Dimensions, ” written by Edwin A. Abbott. In this two-dimensional world, our perception of space is flatten. A line can be a point and a square looks like a line from any direction.

 

For the final project of the first year of LEM, I created two flat objets which can be transformed in several forms. Every form has its own expression. According to the manipulation of the performers, they can be curious, shy, or aggressive. An interesting dialogue is then created in between two-dimensional and three-dimensional world.
