In the second year of LEM, I chose “Stalker” as the material to lead my creation. This film from Andrei Tarkovsky questions the belief of existence and non-existence. It resonates with my passed exploring experience in ruins. I believe in the existence of spirits, no matter from an object, a soul, a tree or a space. When visiting ruins, I act carefully not to bother any spirit around. I listen to the surroundings and respond to them with my movement. This experience then becomes the core of the project “ Frictionner L’air, ” which intends to represent this cautious tension in the sensation. I first illustrated my feeling with Chinese ink. Then a short performance has been developed with aluminum tubes, which explore the space, guiding and reacting with the performers.

 

Four tubes wander consciously on a line, amusing themselves at discovering their desires. What they call, in reality, is nothing but the energy inside the soul. It is just their friction with the air.
